The 4th meeting of the Roundtable for the adaptation of pollinators to climate change was held on April 15: a permanent discussion group with information and guidance functions at national and interregional level, aimed at and open to local authorities, research institutions and representatives of ongoing initiatives.
The Roundtable focused on shedding light on the state of conservation of pollinators in Italy and on possible strategies and measures – particularly financial and within agroecosystems – to reverse the trend of decline of these species, as provided for by the Regulation for the restoration of nature.
The meeting, with the title “Governance for the adaptation of pollinators to climate change: resources and good practices”, addressed several central themes for the project.
A first session dealt with the topic “Resources and funding for pollinators: results and prospects”, addressing these points:
– Ecoschema 5: evaluation of results and future developments (Antonio Papaleo, CREA PB)
– Agri-environmental measures to support pollinator conservation (Danilo Marandola, CREA
– Regional initiatives to combat the decline of pollinators (Monica Palazzini, Emilia-Romagna Region)
This was followed by a first round table moderated by Giuseppe Dodaro, Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile.
The second session was on the topic “Protected areas and governance for the adaptation of pollinators to climate change”, with interventions:
– The Pact for Pollinators, the agreements for the custody of the territory in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park and the PES: prospects for replicability in other protected areas (Willy Reggioni, Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park)
– Monitoring and actions for the conservation of pollinators in National Parks (Valerio Silli and Valter Bellucci, ISPRA)
Giuseppe Dodaro of the Foundation for Sustainable Development then led a second-round table at the end of the event.
